The team at HaveUHeard weighs in on whether the film gets a thumbs up with kids…
Is it me or does life as we know come to a screeching halt when summer arrives? People are busy heading to the beach and enjoying the outdoors – television has only a few “must see” series and celebrities slow their antics down. This leaves us with the secret marriages, bitter break-ups/divorces and what else but the summer movies geared towards children.
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green secretly married while vacationing in Hawaii. Mel Gibson is once again throwing racial slurs at anyone who will dare to listen (I know I’m not). The brunt of his rage is being his ex-girlfriend, mother of his child. Finally, Tiger Woods and soon to be ex-wife, Elin are reaching a hefty $750 million divorce settlement.
Thankfully we can escape from “reality” with some summer movies. The first movie we saw was Toy Story 3.
“Toy Story 3” is the final movie in the sequel that focuses on children setting aside toys as they grow up. Woody, spaceman Buzz Lightyear and the other toys face a bittersweet change because Andy, their owner, is going to college. The toys hope to be sent to the attic where they can stay together, except for Woody, whom Andy plans to take with him. Unfortunately, in a series of mishaps the toys are mistakenly donated to a day-care center where toddlers unleash their terrible two style behavior on the toys. When the humans are away, the toys are ruled by a nasty stuffed bear named Lotso. Woody, ever loyal, sneaks in to help his pals escape.
The road traveled to escaping from the daycare center can be a bit scary for younger children. If you are looking for a feel good movie, I would not recommend this movie. As my six year old son stated, “It didn’t make me feel happy.” Summer and children’s movies should definitely make you “feel happy.”

Celebrity News from Have U Heard
This week is all about television. There were the season finales, season premieres and series that just plain ended.
Three reality shows had the viewers on the edge their seats waiting to see who would be the “winner”- American Idol, Dancing With the Stars and The Biggest Loser. Nicole Scherzinger, from The Pussy Cat Dolls, brought home the Mirror Ball Trophy on Dancing With the Stars.
The winner of The Biggest Loser, Michael Ventrella, lost 264 pounds. Michael made Biggest Loser history being the largest contestant to date and by losing the most weight since the series began.
American Idol was a show stopper this week. Simon Cowell is leaving Idol, prompting a star studded musical event. Musical guests included Alice Cooper, Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald, Janet Jackson and Christina Aguilera to name a few. Of course – let’s not forget the finalists of the show, Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. Crystal was favored to win American Idol since the beginning of the season but dark horse, Lee DeWyze, surprised everyone and won American Idol 2010.
Finally, we say good-bye to Law & Order after a 20 year run. Ghost Whisperer has been cancelled on CBS, possibly being picked up by ABC and both the series Lost and 24 also ended, leaving a void in programming after making a huge impact in television.

Have U Heard What the Celebrities are Doing This Week??
It was a quiet week in the world of celebrity. No break-ups or affairs have been announced but we do have a pregnancy, a celebrity on the “Most Wanted” list, and a serious health concern for some of your most popular celebrities. We also have the release of the final Shrek movie, Shrek Forever After.
Shrek Forever After opens in theaters today, May 21, 2010. Seeing an advanced screening of the 3D flick, this is a film that both children and adults will enjoy. A bored and domesticated Shrek makes a pact with deal-maker Rumpelstiltskin to get back to feeling like a real ogre again. When he’s duped and sent to a twisted version of Far Far Away — where Rumpelstiltskin is king, ogres are hunted, and he and Fiona have never met — he sets out to restore his world and reclaim his true love.
Along Shrek’s journey there are a lot of laughs and some great music for the audience to enjoy. A definite must see!!
We were so happy to hear Bret Michaels was on the road to recovery after suffering a near-fatal brain hemorrhage last month. The 47-year-old rocker visited the The Oprah Show to talk about how grateful he is to still be alive. Unfortunately, Bret has returned to the hospital after suffering from a warning stroke. Bret, a finalist on this season’s Celebrity Apprentice, had hoped to attend the live Season Finale this Sunday night, but after this recent setback that seems unlikely.
John Travolta and Kelly Preston are having a baby. After living through the tragedy of losing their son last year this is happy news. They released a statement on their website with the happy news.
