Scotty McCreery Wins American Idol at the Young Age of 17

MB1_9518.jpgWith over 170 million votes – viewers crowned Scotty McCreery, 17, the youngest American Idol winner to date.
McCreery from Garner, N.C., beat fellow country singer Lauren Alaina, 16, from Rossville, Ga.. Upon hearing that he was the new American Idol, McCreery was a class act and paid tribute to Lauren stating, “me and her have been together since day one and we’re going to stick together”.
McCreery hugged his friends and family as he sang “I Love You This Big,” to a cheering crowd. It was a heartwarming moment with tears coming from the crowd and McCreery himself.
The Season Finale featured performances from Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Tom Jones, Marc Anthony and former “Idol” winner Carrie Underwood.
There were concerns that American Idol’s 10th season would not draw in the audience as it has in previous years as the show received a shake-up this year, with new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joining Randy Jackson.
It is safe to say that the show not only brought the audience in but exceeded the expectations!! For more great entertainment news, visit our entertainment contributors at HaveUHeard.

American Idol Re-Cap

If you missed last night’s Idol, Shari Von Holten and Cathy Day at HaveuHeard Shares the Latest News
americanidol.jpg The 10th season of American Idol is winding down. With outstanding performances by the contestants it was hard to tell who would be going home. Ryan Seacrest informed the audience we would be surprised with the results this week.
The group kept the theme by singing a medley of Carole King songs including “It Might As Well Rain Until September,” “One Fine Day,” “Go Away, Little Girl” (sung by Scotty McCreery, surrounded by adoring female fans), and “It’s Too Late.”
Ryan Seacrest began the elimination process with Haley Reinhart, who he quickly declared as safe. Next it was Scotty McCreery’s turn. Instead of giving him his results he sent him back to the couch. He did the same thing to Lauren Alaina and Casey Abrams. This week’s eliminations are very dragged out.
Next up was James Durbin, who was safe. With four contestants left to learn their fate, Jacob Lusk joined Lauren, Scotty and Casey on stage.
To break up the elimination process American Idol Season 9 contestant, Crystal Bowersox performed ‘Ridin on the Radio’ and Bruno Mars performed, ‘The Lazy Song’.
Finally we learn Casey Abrams was eliminated. Casey was saved by the judges in the beginning of the season. Are you surprised by his elimination?
Check out Casey’s performance from the night before.

Rio Premiere: Anne Hathaway Chats About Glasses, Babies & Birds

Rio_Anne.jpgHaveUHeard’s Shari Von Holten had the honor of attending the premiere of Rio starring Anne Hathway and Jesse Eisenberg…take a look at who she got to meet!
The premiere of the movie holds special meaning, as this was the first time I have been to a movie premiere. Since I have been on the red carpet for other events – I knew what to expect. The red carpet comes down to getting a prime spot. The one where you get the photos and maybe even an interview. Since we were on the end of the carpet, the stars of Rio had to pass us to get into Grauman’s Theatre. Jesse Eisenberg,, Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann (who stopped to take photos with us) were all in attendance. I was standing in a key spot. So much so that Access Hollywood and Extra TV needed to squeeze in so they could interview Anne Hathaway.

Lucky me. I now had the opportunity to see Anne Hathaway up close and hear the real reason she was sporting her glasses to the movie premiere. As Anne said sarcastically – it was a really exciting story. Anne also spoke about the filming of Rio and what it meant to her.

American Idol’s Pia Toscano Shocking Elimination

MB1_3215.jpgOur friends at HaveUHeard share the latest surprising news from American Idol
In what really was the most shocking elimination of Season 10, Pia Toscano was eliminated from American Idol. Toscano was a fan favorite and her beauty and voice will definitely be missed.
Viewers were surprised to see Pia on the bottom three, along with Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone.
Imagine their shock when Pia was announced as the person going home. The studio reaction was a round of disappointment. Jennifer Lopez had no idea what happened and was near tears. The judges were all in agreement about the fact that Toscano would be packing her bags. It makes you wonder if they regret saving Casey a couple of weeks ago. They could have really used the save now.
Randy pointed out that voters should never assume someone is safe and therefore spend their time voting to save someone else. Whether or not that is what happened, the point is still there.
So as not to end on a sour note, Ryan asks Pia to pick a song to sing and she opts for “I’ll Stand By You”, her breakout song of the season.
Ryan Seacrest closed the show by saying, “We need you this season.” Sounds like he is nervous that viewers will leave now that Pia is gone. Will you be tuning in still?
Pia was interviewed after the elimination where she spoke about how it felt to be eliminated, her hopes for the future and her fans!!

Born This Way or Express Yourself…You Decide…

A re-cap of the week’s top entertainment story from HaveUHeard

The major topic of conversation this week was the Grammy Awards or should we say Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga made a grand “egg”trance to the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards that was the most talked about moment all over the world.

Lady Gaga was carried into the awards ceremony inside a giant egg, which she referred to as a vessel. She spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show and said she spent three days inside of the vessel before “hatching” out of it for her performance of her new single ‘Born This Way’.
While ‘Born This Way’ is said to sound like Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’, Lady Gaga thanked Whitney Houston for the inspiration during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Check out Lady Gaga’s entrance below:

Incidentally, Leah Remini at “The Talk” did a spoof of Lady Gaga’s egg-centric entrance earlier this week. Take a look…

Jessica Alba Interview “Little Fockers”

By Shari Von Holten, HaveUHeard
Not only is Jessica Alba beautiful – she is down to earth, funny and very honest.  While she was in New York promoting her latest film, Little Fockers, I had the chance to speak with Jessica and find out what it was like working with her iconic co-stars, Barbara Streisand, Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Blythe Danner and Teri Polo, as well as how being a mother has changed her and what her daughter, Honor, is like.
Jessica plays a gorgeous drug saleswoman in Little Fockers who likes working with Greg Focker, played by Ben Stiller, a little too much.  It turns out that in reality working with Ben Stiller was one of the reasons Jessica decided to take the role. When asked what made her take the role Jessica stated, “The cast is terrible. Paul Weitz, never heard of him. American Pie, About a Boy. (of course she was being sarcastic). Paul, the director, first of all, is fantastic.  And then, obviously, is there a better comedian, writer, director, actor than Ben Stiller right now? He’s amazing. I mean, just as an actor. But, he’s incredible. And so, I feel so lucky and honored to have the opportunity to even be in this group of people and these actors.  I learned a lot, and it was challenging. And I’ve never done a comedy before like this, and I’ve always wanted to. It’s kind of why I started acting is to make people laugh.”
As for being the newcomer to the cast who have already worked together on two other films, Jessica stated that “it was actually completely intimidating that I had to just pray to God I wasn’t going to get fired and have fun.”
Jessica also revealed how the roles she chooses have changed since giving birth to her daughter, Honor.  Prior to Honor, Jessica was happy to have a job and pretty much took any job she could get.  This meant she worked 12 months a year for a decade for the most part.  It was after giving birth to Honor and taking time off she realized that she had family, friends and a home.  Living in a hotel and being in her bed for only 10 days a year was no longer appealing.  Jessica stated, “At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, who cares if you have a great career or if you’ve been in this or that movie. It’s, “What experiences did you have and what relationships are important to you?” And that’s more important and what life is really about.”
Jessica wants to spend time with her daughter and if she chooses a role it has to be worth it, it has to be something that she is passionate about and not too time-consuming.  She doesn’t want to miss her saying funny things and learning how to ride a tricycle or her getting excited about a Barbie doll.
A surprising fact I learned was that Honor has never seen a Disney movie.  Jessica revealed that she doesn’t like her watching too much television and she doesn’t want her to have bad dreams. Since there is always a villain in Disney movies, Jessica would prefer that Honor watch Yo Gabba Gabba, The Backyardigans or Strawberry Shortcake.
And that’s usually only when they are on a plane. Otherwise she would prefer that she is stimulated with other things like playing dress up and coloring.
The biggest challenge of being a mom for Jessica has been “being okay with not always having the answer and forgiving myself for not spending every second with her. Knowing that she’s going have to be sad or disappointed or angry. And even though I feel totally responsible for it, letting that go and knowing that that’s just part of being a human being.  And at the end of the day, it’ll be good for her, as long as she knows she’s loved, but all that stuff’s really hard.”
Having Honor has made Jessica feel as though she has finally come into her own. Jessica stated, “Everything just sort of made sense. And I was certainly not as hard on myself, certainly not as critical and enjoyed life a lot more and having a different perspective on life, on the business, on family, on everything was amazing.”
More great interviews to come.
Little Fockers will be in theaters on December 22, 2010.
