Most kids out there do not enjoy taking their medicine. Especially this time of year (half the kids in my son’s class including my son are out sick) we parents can use all the help we can get! KidKUPZ – (Created by NYC Mom and daughter team) is a new medicine dispensing cup with fruit-flavored rims that help make swallowing medicine easy and delicious for kids. Endorsed by a renowned pediatrician, KidKUPZ (SRP $4.99) is available at Walgreens in four flavors including Sour Cherry, Blue Raspberry, Watermelon and Green Apple.
“We launched KidKupz with the goal of making the act of taking medicine fun for kids–less of a chore and more of a treat,” says Jill Addeo, mother of two and President and co-Founder of KidKupz. Having a sick kid is difficult enough… getting them to take their medicine without a fuss sounds good to me!

Madame Alexander Doll Factory in NYC
I bet many of you are unaware that there is a hidden treasure in Harlem… the Madame Alexander Doll factory. Who knew?! On the 6th floor of an ordinary building lies a world of fun for everyone!
Anyone can go for a tour of the factory ($8 for adults/$4 children under 16) where you will see where and how the dolls are created, visit the “doll hospital” – run by the same woman for the last 50 years – where they can fix up any doll, visit the Madame Alexander Museum and gift store. It was fascinating to learn how they get the dolls to blink their eyes and to see the machine where they spin thread into beautiful doll hats! The Heritage Gallery is amazing for all ages… they had dolls my 6 year old daughter was excited about (Fancy Nancy, Wizard of Oz, Angelina Ballerina, the Disney Princesses etc.) and so many that I was excited about including dolls from my childhood- Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake and Holly Hobbie! Doll collectors and lovers will go crazy and even if you’re not, this place is magical. There is a short interesting movie shown about Madame Alexander herself, how she started the company and how it has evolved.
If you would like to do the workshop (for $25 it includes the tour as well) you get to create your own doll! My daughter and I were able to participate in the workshop and it was so much fun picking out the hair and outfits and dressing the dolls ourself.
They also host birthday and tea parties. The party guests will get a behind the scenes tour of the showroom, design and production rooms, doll hospital and The Heritage Gallery. They will also be able to do the workshop and then go to the party room and enjoy food, beverages and cake! The party room is beautifully decorated with dolls, hand painted flowers, bright blue skies and puffy clouds. What a fun and different party idea!
