Just caught a funny video sent over by the PR team for Neosporin. Looks like they just nabbed the product placement of a lifetime when David Letterman whipped it out after examining a ton of boo boos – all over Jennifer Garner’s knees and arms. It seems the “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” star must have taken a nasty fall and luckily Dave had just the thing to keep her scrapes and bruises germ free. My question is…why didn’t her daughter Violet lend her any Princess Band Aids?
I’m sure by now you’ve seen those relatable and funny animated commercials for Frito-lay and their healthy line of snack foods. Well, as a blogging member of their “Fabulous 15” I am here to let you know that a little birdy delivered a package of goodies to my door today and yours truly was quite pleased – right along with our trusty Role Mommy event coordinator Bonny, my son, his first grade female playmate (yes they were on a “date” today) and my daughter.
My personal favorite was smart food since it included popcorn topped with caramel and chocolate and get this…it’s only 120 calories and 3 grams of fat! Bonny opted for the Flat Earth spicy chips, and the kiddies were fixated by the new and improved baked lays – which of course also landed on my carpet, the table and on the couch. But enough about the chips and popcorn…watch the latest webisode from A Woman’s World and get ready to laugh.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, we’d like to hear about your Role Mommy. Is it your mom, your aunt, a teacher, friend or a fellow mom blogger? Share your story or send us a video at email@example.com and we’ll feature you on our site. Better yet, we’re awarding cash prizes to the most popular essay and video – $100 for the best blog and $150 for the video! Need a little inspiration? Well here’s my post that ran a few years back in the Huffington Post – and it still rings true today.
That is the question…
The past few weeks I have been desperately trying to shed some weight and for the life of me, it’s just not in the cards. I’ve cut out diet coke, have been trying to eat every few hours, have gone to the gym, took an incredibly difficult body toning class, and yet, when I attempted to put on my favorite jeans or a skirt that was swimming on me last year after my successful run with Jenny Craig, everything is tight.
Actually, everything is really tight. And I’m not happy about it. I don’t know why I always manage to sabotage myself right when the weather starts getting nice and now I’m trying to figure out the best way to shrink the belly, thigh and knee fat that have taken up permanent residence in body. I’ve got friends doing Nutropia, but I ditched that after a week. My mom is a Weight Watchers success story. I just found out that Freshology, the diet that Ricki Lake lost tons of weight on is now in my area. And another mom told me about the Master Cleanse– which guarantees that you’ll lose at least six pounds and rid your body of all the toxic crap you’ve been ingesting over the last few months.
While I’m usually not a magic potion drinker, there is something interesting about that Master Cleanse thing. I mean, maybe that is what my body needs. An inside out car wash if you will. Let’s clean out the splenda, mono sodium glutamate, white wine, chocolate cake and all the other junk I’ve been eating while trying to lose the same 10 pounds I battle every single year.
Of course, I’m sure that after I lose the six pounds, I’ll probably gain it right back but if I can at least get a kick start and fit back into my formerly comfy jeans (notice how I don’t say skinny jeans), I’ll at least be back on the road to sveltesville.
What diet is working for you? Comment now or forever hold that piece of cake.

I had to capture this post from Twitter today because honestly, I couldn’t believe it and had to share it with the world. Or at least my wonderful readers. O Magazine said to follow me. Me, that’s right. Little old me. The kid from Brooklyn, NY with big dreams who keeps rolling that boulder up the hill hoping that one of these days, someone will finally discover me. And today it happened! Sure it may just be on Twitter but I don’t care. I am beyond thrilled.
So thanks O Magazine – I’ll make sure to tell all my friends to follow you too. But more importantly, it goes to show all of us that if you keep following your path and doing what you love, eventually the big people take notice.
Time to step away from the computer and do the happy dance. Oh who am I kidding? It’s time to break out in song! 🙂
We just got the opportunity to meet an amazing mom from Australia named Sharon Lowe. Sharon is the creator of Habitat Heroes, a new website where kids can have fun and interact with friends around the world, while learning about ways to protect the planet and its animals. Find out how she turned her vision into a reality and get inspired to pursue your dream too! And if you don’t have time to read, then listen in to our interview with Sharon on Blog Talk Radio! Role Mommy: What did you do before you became a mom? Sharon: In my previous life, I was a management consultant specializing in change integration, business process re-engineering and training. Role Mommy: When did you decide to reinvent your life? Sharon: About 20 months ago, I conceived of Habitat Heroes the same week I conceived my third child which totally reinvented my life. It was interesting to think of the business idea in parallel to gestation. You experience a similar kind of early euphoria with a business idea, and many of the increasing pains as the idea becomes more and more real. Then, at last, when the idea turns into a living, breathing entity you are struck with the wonderful thing you’ve created. Role Mommy: How have your children influenced your career path? How many do you have? Sharon: I have three children. My children have totally directed my current career path. I came up with the concept for Habitat Heroes while watching my eldest daughter playing on the Internet. Seeing how enthused she was about the platform made me question why there are no great educational websites using this medium to educate children, especially about the “organism” most important to all of us – our planet.. Role Mommy: What’s your favorite “Time Out” tip for moms (taking time for yourself) Sharon: Hmmm….time out? I am working on that one! Actually, exercise is my release and it has the dual effect of clearing my head and body. Often I come up with my best ideas when I am jogging. Role Mommy: What does your website offer moms or kids? Sharon: Habitat Heroes (www.HabitatHeroes.com) is an exciting new virtual world where kids can have fun and interact with friends around the world, while learning about ways to protect the planet and its animals. Education-based games and activities, treasure hunts and puzzles entertain and teach children about animal extinction, water and land rejuvenation, recycling, global warming and others challenges facing Planet Earth. Habitat Heroes unites children into a global force of Super Heroes, teaching them that everyone can make a difference.
Habitat Heroes offers moms a safe arena for their children to play on. There are safety mechanisms in place and we also are developing an area of the site which does not involve social networking but still offers all the educational games, activities and quiz questions. There are educational activity sheets which can be printed for parents and teachers. Role Mommy: What do you hope for your own kids? Sharon: Bottom line – happiness. My husband and I are also trying to instill confidence so that our children will go after their goals and achieve success in whatever paths they choose. We want them to be kind and considerate people who are aware of their place in the world, and who respect and protect the planet. Role Mommy: Who is your Role Mommy? Sharon: My Role Mommy is my own mother who has given me the confidence and grounding to go after my dreams. She has always supported and encouraged me in all of my decisions and gave me the freedom to succeed on my own terms. She is an inspirational person as a mother as well as a professional. My mother is a lawyer who left their practice to take care of my father before he died. She returned to work, built her practice again and sold it just last year. Now she is the president of Jewish National Fund Victoria.
