The Parentville Fave Five - Our Favorite New Services
Parentville.com is the new give-and-get parent recommendation site where you can quickly find (and recommend) information on products, services, activities and caregivers. We are featuring some unique services this week started by moms to enhance other moms' lives. For one of them, Relish!, we are giving away a year's subscription and a $50 Crate & Barrel Gift Card. Register for Parentville and make one recommendation by Oct. 20 for a chance to win either one.
The folks at Relish let us try out the site for a month so we have been able to see firsthand what a useful website Relish is for the busy parent who wants to cook quick, healthy meals. You chose up to 5 meals and 1 dessert per week from the menu and get a combined shopping list (helps save time in the store undecided) and recipes. Or, you can choose a whole month's worth of dinners to freeze and reheat.
You can chose these meals to fit your needs, e.g., kid friendly, low calorie, quick, crock pot. You can also find recipes for snacks, cocktails and "themed" dinner nights and save past favorites in your list. They also have a Gluten-free menu planning service and an iPhone app coming out for on the go. Great for yourself (only $7 / month) or a gift to help someone you know! We're all about earth-friendly, and this bag takes the cake, we mean, gift. It's a sturdy, recycled material bag designed by a mom. You choose from several designs on the site, www.friendshipgiftbag.com, or in stores identified on the site.
Then four friends pass it around as they use it to give their gifts, and they personalize the bag with unique pictures and messages. They register their information on the site, and the last person to have the bag sends it to the company with a free ship mailing label printed from the site. All four friends receive back information about how to view the final version of the bag, and they can even create memorable items such as mugs and key chains using the design. This is a wonderful hour-long class in the major NYC museums started by a mom, Natasha Schlesinger, who is an art historian and consultant. It's for kids ages 3 1/2 to 12. She explains key works and engages students in interactive activities so they understand shapes, colors, story lines, symbols, history and key messages. During her discussions, she introduces other art forms tied to the culture, such as food, music, books and costume. At the end of the session, the kids have an art project inspired by the particular exhibit! See our recommendation on Parentville here.
This site was founded by two clever writers, Elina and Leah Furman. They know what it's like to be a busy mom who wants to remain in control and on top of everything. This site is the answer. Each day they send out an email with some of the most thought-provoking items you want to have. Their goal is to empower moms with the best and brightest products to help make their day easier and their child's day more fun, and to get people asking for more! Everything from an inexpensive, sharp-looking way to hang kid photos to a hand food puree tool to an adorable look-alike animal hoodie is searchable on their site by 5 easy tabs.

This is a wonderful e-commerce site started by a dad who wanted the safest products for his kids. The site includes a range of items across all baby & toddler needs. He meticulously hand-selects every item and is building up his gift and apparel areas. You can buy a gift card for a new parent, too. What's also great: $5 flat rate shipping and free over $75.
