Mr. Coffee Coffeemaker Giveaway!
I am not a morning person. Each morning I have the same routine... with my eyes half closed I somehow manage to get the kids dressed, fed and ready for school, pack the lunches, make the beds and dress myself, all the while sipping homemade coffee. By the time I get into the car I am amazed that my eyes are fully open and I am ready to start my day! Then there are the "bad days."
You know those mornings where everything goes wrong and you are so rushed that you forget to make the coffee?!? Those days I may as well call it quits because it will be hard to get anything done. With just a few more days until Halloween I hope everyone has their costumes ready to go and something to give out to those trick or treaters when they come knocking at your door! Some parents are terrified thinking about the amount of candy their children are going to consume. "Halloween can be a challenging time for parents who encourage their kids to eat healthy throughout the year," said Emily Whelan Anschlowar, MS, RD, and in-house nutrition expert at Pirate Brands, makers of all-natural snacks including Pirate's Booty.
Here are some "Healthy Halloween" tips from Pirate's Booty:
• Fill 'em up. Feed children a full, nutritious meal before heading out to trick-or-treat. That way they'll be less likely to devour candy while out on the trail.
• Trade agreement. Offer coins or a coveted toy in place of the candy.
• Cavity cutback. Some dentist offices have actually started implementing candy buyback programs the day after Halloween. Kids receive a monetary reward, while the candy gets shipped to different organizations like U.S. troops abroad.
• Treat others. Donate sweets to a local food bank.
• Divide and conquer. Measure out the candy into individual serving sizes. Two to three little treats after a meal will fill that sweet tooth.
• A helping hand(out). Distribute non-candy treats such as a baked, low-fat snack like Pirate's Booty.

I bet you'll be surprised when I tell you this little tidbit about myself. I love racing games. While I would never think to set foot in a race car, from the time I was a kid, I used to love hopping inside one of those video games where you were virtually transported to a racetrack and attempted to corner those curves and cross the finish line without spontaneously combusting. In fact, about a month ago, I took my son bowling and after my 89th gutter ball, we hit the videogames. While Dylan played his own car game, I hopped aboard a motorcycle, flew through the air and crossed the finished line with a third place win. Of course, the vehicle was mounted to the floor so I got all the thrills of the real thing without being freaked out on the open road.
So imagine my excitement when my son and I got the chance to review the new game Nitro Need for Speed for Nintendo DS. This time, the excitement of car racing is placed in the palm of your hands. Giveaway Central: Passion Pleasers
As the lifestyle editor here at RoleMommy I feel it is incumbent upon me to cover ALL aspects of a mom's lifestyle which include drum roll... the bedroom and the activity or lack thereof that is taking place in there. As a veteran in this institution of marriage- (heck I've clocked ten years so far) I can honestly say- that my mommy lifestyle has been sorely lacking that three letter word and yes- I'm beginning to feel more like my husband and I are a modern day version of the Odd couple- Felix and Oscar-- with me fitting Felix to a tee and him- being a grouchy, slovenly Oscar- minus the cigars- bed full of dirty clothes because yes- thankfully after 10 years we're still sleeping in the same bed. I was utterly shocked by the enormous number of married couples who I've slowly come to find out- sleep in separate rooms!
Yes- our nights often go something like this...ME feeding the kids, bathing the kids, brushing their teeth- watching yet another episode of the Jonas Brothers while simultaneously watching my son create a monster tower with his Lego's- fielding demands like; "Mommy I want an apples with the skin peeled off... Can I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the crusts cut off, I don't want to go to sleep, why do I have to go to sleep, can you sleep with me..." until my husband FINALLY walks through the door- and sits at his computer and continues to do work. When I make it to bed- I'm usually out as soon as my head hits the pillow- and although I feel my husband lying next to me- that's the extent of our "physical intimate " relationship..
