Our favorite places to visit & trips to take with the kids!

With Spring just around the corner, we are looking at some fun trips (both in the tri-state area and a bit beyond) with the little ones!

Here are Parentville's Fave Springtime Outings/Activities:

Westchester, NY

Greenburg Nature Center

Parentville visited the Greenburgh Nature Center in the Fall and loved it. This place is great for both sunny, warmer days, when you want to spend time outside looking at nature, and rainy days as they have a big indoor facility. On Sunday, March 14th, the GNC is going to have a Maple Sugaring Party where, according to the website, featured events include depictions of Native American and Colonial style sugaring sites, candy and ice cream making, and live music. Rates range from $4-$10/pp depending on membership and early registration.

New York City (Lower East Side)

New York City Tenement Museum

One of our Parentville members visited the unique New York City Tenement Museum for kids ranging in ages from 7-14 years old. Everyone had fun, and it was an interesting (and educational) trip! The LES is also home to some wonderful children's clothing shops, stores, restaurants and parks -- all very walkable for a nice day. This review mentions Katz's Deli and Economy Candy, which are both great for kids, and other eats close to the museum (egg creams, hot dogs, candy -- definitely kid-friendly food).

Philadelphia, PA

Please Touch Museum

A Parentville member visited The Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia's Memorial Hall at Fairmont Park and had nothing but great things to say about it! There are a number of great programs for the late Winter and early Spring. One recurring program is the "Please Touch Playhouse" which puts on plays every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on stage at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. It is free with museum admission. The show runs for approximately 25 minutes (not too long for the little ones).

Morris County, NJ

Alstede Farms

Parentville visited Alstede Farms with a 2-year old last Fall and really enjoyed it! The farm also has a number of Springtime family events, including visiting with baby farm animals, pony rides and a moon bounce. There's an Easter Egg Maze from March 26th - April 3rd. They also offer a baby animals tour that allows the kids to spend the day visiting and holding the baby lambs, goats, chicks and ducks!
