Qwiki Launches iPad App & Celebrates with iPad2 Giveaway!

If you haven't checked out the fun and informational site for kids and their parents, Qwiki.com, the Qwiki App now makes it a cinch to answer all your kids questions while you're traveling or on the road!

Check out all the amazing "finger friendly" features in the launch video:

Qwiki iPad App Demo from Qwiki on Vimeo.

The iPad app highlights the appeal of the Information Experience by providing users with a beautiful, interactive, and intuitive way to discover millions of topics and important moments in history. I don't know about you, but I'm thinking Qwiki is going to be an amazing resource for school projects!

They've also included a feature that gives useful context to Qwiki's current "reference" corpus: browse by map. The app allows you to explore the area near you, or anywhere in the world, by highlighting popular Qwikis on a worldwide map that supports any zoom level (check out the center of Paris or the entire Australian continent!).

Who's this app for? Anyone that's curious! You can download the app for FREE here.

For your chance to win an iPad2 with the Qwiki App pre-loaded, share your favorite Qwiki link below and tell us, in one short sentence, why you or your kids love Qwiki! (U.S. and Canada residents eligible). Next, please include your information on the form below so that we can contact you if you're a winner. One prize winner will be selected at random through random.org. Giveaway opportunity is open to residents of the US and Canada.

If you'd like to find out more about Qwiki.com, follow them on Twitter @Qwiki or visit their Facebook fan page.

Looks like you can use it right away without having to go through a complicated a tutorial.

Kids really liked looking up where we live here: http://www.qwiki.com/q/#!/Hahnville,_Louisiana... I even learned a few things about the town on Qwiki and I have lived here all my life.

Seems like a great app! Would love to win!

This is my favorite link: http://www.qwiki.com/q/#!/Columbia,_Maryland It's the link to my hometown, Columbia, Maryland. I was so stunned by all the (accurate!) information that Qwiki.com has about Columbia. Although I live in NYC now, I'm originally from Columbia and I LOVE my town. It's a planned community and is such a lovely, diverse, suburban community - located in such a great area (right between Baltimore and DC).

Though I've lived in NYC for 9 years now I miss my hometown ALL the time.... never thought I'd come to grad school in NYC almost 10 years ago, meet my hubby and fall in love, then get married and have 2 kids. Now we're pretty much here to stay. I really love that I can tell my boys as well as friends all about Columbia through sharing this Qwiki link with them. It completely sums up the wonderful town and experience that is Columbia in a concise yet comprehensive way! Most people haven't heard of Columbia, let alone a planned community, and I appreciate the thorough and complete way that Qwiki has interpreted it. What a great resource for both adults and kids! Thanks for this.

What a great family app..it reminds me of my family road trips growing up. We would study the fold up maps for entertainment

My son is a huge history buff, how great would this be for trips in the car?

What an awesome site! Thanks for letting us know. It's my first time hearing about Qwiki. It's a very fast website on just about anything I want to know.

Right now my favorite link is http://www.qwiki.com/q/#!/San_Juan,_Puerto_Rico. My Dad was born in PR so it was nice to learn some facts about the island I didn't know before.

Thanks for the opportunity.

I learned about the Qwiki website when it first launched but then forgot about it, even though I loved it. Thank you so much for reminding me and letting me know about the app. I definitely going to share this app with my family. Besides being useful, it is so beautiful to look at.

This is a great resource - it seems like I'm always stuck in the car when my girls ask questions about things and now I can have the answers right at my fingertips! My favorite link right now is to the Cars movie - my youngest's favorite: http://www.qwiki.com/q/#!/Cars_%28film%29. Thanks!!

I really liked the Qwiki on Jane Austen and on Keystone, SD. As a mom and a teacher, this site has so many practical applications. I also love that it links right to similar Qwikis on related material. I wil definitely be using this with my kids and my classes!

We use qwiki.com to show my kids where my husband and I went on our mission trip. http://www.qwiki.com/q/#!/Cameroon

It also would have been good to know about when we visited a hospital there and found out after being there for awhile that it was a leprosy hospital!! We didn't know how common it was in that region :( http://www.qwiki.com/q/#!/Health_in_Cameroon

I don't have kids yet, but Qwiki has been great for both my husband and I - the hubby loves it! Maybe someday we'll be sharing it with a little one of our own. :)
