Meet The Mojo Coach, Debi Silber
Role Mommy: What did you do before you became a mom?
Debi: I was a Registered Dietitian and a Personal Trainer working with moms.
Role Mommy: When did you decide to reinvent your life?
Debi: My health was completely deteriorating due to toxic relationships, chronic stress and emotional upheaval. I had a strong feeling that there was a link between my lifestyle and my health and while I was recovering from surgery, I decided to un-do the damage I'd caused my body and mind. I slowly changed everything and regained my health completely.
Role Mommy: How have your children influenced your career path? How many do you have?
Debi: I have 4 children-13, 12, 9 and 7. They've completely influenced my career path. For one, I work with moms and I have a greater depth of understanding of their needs being a mom myself. My kids have also pointed me on the path to my true life's purpose because I teach health/fitness/wellness for moms and I want to be a role model for my own children. Lastly, they motivate me to grow and thrive in my business because I want them to know how following your passion can be fun, satisfying and rewarding-which is what they learn as they watch me work.
Role Mommy: What's your favorite "Time Out" tip for moms (taking time for yourself)
Debi: Moms need to take a break-whether it's just to have some time alone, time with your partner, friends, etc. Each mom needs to find her own strategy of what works best for her whether that means taking a walk, doing yoga, journaling, meditating, exercising, calling a friend, taking a nap, lighting candles, going out on a "date" with their partner, reading a book, etc. I worked with one mom who found cleaning therapeutic for her! They key is to find what reduces your stress, makes you feel happy and then just do it. Personally, exercise is my stress reliever-it's a proactive way I take care of my body and mind. I also have some great friends who I can call on just to have a good laugh.
Role Mommy: What does your website offer moms or kids?
Debi: As a Dietitian, Personal Trainer, Whole Health Coach, Lifestyle Expert-just for moms, speaker and author, I offer moms an opportunity to get my products or services to empower and inspire them to look, feel and live their best. I also offer my charity program where each month, I donate 50% of my profits to charity. Also each month, I choose a "mom of the month" a mom who has made significant lifestyle changes. Besides recognition in my newsletter, the chosen "M-O-M" has the additional reward of deciding to which charity my monthly profits go. Moms see the global impact of her lifestyle changes while using the program as a great teaching tool for her kids. A true win-win for all!
Role Mommy: What do you hope for your own kids?
Debi: Besides them being happy and healthy, I want my own kids to learn that anything is possible when you follow your intuition and move past your fears. Life is meant to be lived but if we're filled with fear, self doubt and insecurity we don't have the confidence to pursue our passion and live our dream.
I want my kids to see that the brightest future starts with a solid foundation-one we create for ourselves. That means being fit, healthy and happy from the inside out because when we're happy, we have better relationships, a healthier emotional outlook the willingness to turn obstacles into opportunities and the confidence to create the lives we crave. I want them to be proactive within their lives-creating the lives they desire as opposed to reacting to life as it passes them by.
Role Mommy: Who is your Role Mommy?
Debi: Great question. I don't have one role mommy but have many role models I've learned from-sort of the smorgasbord approach! If someone has certain qualities and characteristics that I admire and respect, I try to incorporate it in a way that suits my own style-always giving that person credit and letting them know they've taught me something valuable enough to use for myself! I like to think I'm a work in progress-constantly learning and growing from those who are truly successful in the areas of family, career, community and self.

This is great stuff!
Our community has shared some really powerful "role model" stories but I think my favorite is this one, about a mom who decided to go back to college in part to become a better role model to her daughter. She decided to stop feeling for herself and DO IT!
Take a look:

The site is sponsored by Mutual of Omaha and is a collection of "aha moments" both big and small but all inspirational in their own way!
Thanks and have a great day!
