Meet Author Ellen Feig

Ellen_Feig_-_Web.jpgRole Mommy: What did you do before you became a mom?
Ellen: I was a music manager and an attorney...and a wild child.

15308405.jpgRole Mommy: When did you decide to reinvent your life?
Ellen: After I became pregnant with my first child...again, with my second pregnancy...when I was diagnosed with breast cancer...when I got divorced. You can say I am the "queen of reinvention."

Role Mommy: How have your children influenced your career path? How many do you have?
Ellen: I have two children and the have influenced and continue to influence every decision I make with my career. Recently, I was working as a content writer for a marketing company and my boss was very difficult (would not let me take time off if the kids were sick or let the kids come to work) so I changed careers again and now am writing and teaching writing to college students as an adjunct professor.

Role Mommy: What's your favorite "Time Out" tip for moms (taking time for yourself)

Ellen: My time out is when I read. However, I find that now that my kids are teenagers, I want to be with them and enjoy time out with them.

26935866.jpgRole Mommy: What does your website offer moms or kids and what do you hope for your own kids?
I run two websites - one which offers tips to moms who are newly single and one which review books...neither are for the kiddies. I hope that my own children find passion in their lives, care about others as much as they do themselves, learn that money can never bring happiness, be politically and socially active and surround themselves with creativity.

Role Mommy: Who is your Role Mommy?

Ellen: My own mother and my sister - they have taught me to love family and myself (in that order!)

My books are The Ex Files: Women, Litigation and Liberty (Adams Media) and Rock On! (Triad Publishing Group).
