Meet Mom of Reinvention, Bradi Nathan

mail.jpegRole Mommy: What did you do before you became a mom?
Bradi Nathan: Life before motherhood you ask? Well, I did have an important job as the Advertising Manager at Marie Claire magazine in NYC. Prior to that I was the Beauty Advertising Director at Town & Country magazine. Sounds fancy, I know.

Role Mommy: When did you decide to reinvent your life?
Bradi: Prior to having children I defined myself by what I did for a living. That's who I was to my very core. I had my son in the year 2000. It was at this time that I decided to stay home to reinvent myself, and my life.

Role Mommy: How have your children influenced your career path? How many do you have?
Bradi: Having 2 children allowed me to realize exactly what I wanted out of life. Working in a corporate environment, and in an industry that doesn't sleep, prohibits you from taking the time to explore much else. It was on maternity leave that I realized exactly how much I enjoy writing. I wrote to clear my head and to jot down thoughts- it's very therapeutic in nature. Those thoughts led me to where I am today because I turned them into a reality. My reality is MyWorkButterfly.com- a social networking site I co-founded in January of this year for working and return-to-work moms.

Role Mommy: What's your favorite "Time Out" tip for moms (taking time for yourself)
Bradi: I know you might think I'm sick in the head but when I work, I consider that to be taking time for myself. As a mompreneur I am so passionate about my business and the effect MyWorkButterfly.com is having on so many moms across the globe. A quick manicure/pedicure doesn't compare.

Role Mommy: What does your website offer moms or kids?
Bradi: MyWorkButterfly.com offers return-to-work moms the chance to speak with our resident career coach who is available to our members 24/7. She is an expert in guiding women and a huge asset in helping to choose a career path. We also offer a robust job board brimming with 10,000+ national job opportunities for moms wishing to change or begin careers. In addition, we have a resident Psychotherapist on-hand to speak confidentially with our Butterflies about feelings of guilt or stress. Other invaluable resources for working and return to work moms include: exclusive celebrity mom mentor videos with the likes of Kathie Lee Gifford, Liz Lange, Jill Zarin, Dana Buchman, Supermodel Emme, Fox's Jane Skinner and WNBA all-star Rebecca Lobo to name a few. Child care, elder care, financial, parenting, health, fitness, travel, beauty and fashion are additional content areas that are all written by mothers for moms on this journey. Put simply, MyWorkButterfly.com provides advice, support and solutions.

Role Mommy: What do you hope for your own kids?
Bradi: I hope that my children remain optimistic about life and that they continue to take chances or risks. My son (who is 9) already told me that becoming a professional football player is on his "bucket list." He's 65 pounds, wet. But I say, good for him for dreaming big!

Role Mommy: Who is your Role Mommy?
Bradi: My business partner, Terry Starr who is a "cup is half full " kind of mom. She is not only wise and relentless in business- she is a kind and trustworthy friend. And, I think I can speak for Terry in saying that Butterfly's members are our true Role Mommies. They inspire us every day. And, you Beth, you're not so bad yourself. xo
