Weight Loss Tips du Jour
We just learned an exciting piece of news that may help us shed the last 10 pounds we've been trying to lose this year. In a study that will be published next month in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers in Australia found that drinking fat free milk in the morning helped increase a feeling of fullness, and led to decreased calorie intake at the next meal, as compared with a fruit drink.
The milk drinkers ate about 50 fewer calories (or nearly 9% less food) at lunch. While experts are increasingly focused on small behavior changes for weight loss, a calorie decrease as little as 50 calories per day can add up in the long run.
Good thing I ordered that hazelnut with skim milk and splenda every morning. And for some more summer diet tips for yourself and your kids, we've got two interviews that we just featured on Blog Talk Radio. The first is an interview with Dr. Michael Kaplan at the Center for Medical Weight Loss. Next, we spoke with Regina Luttrell, the founder of Snacker Tracker - a nutritional monitoring system for kids.
